Train Lord is a live massive multiplayer game (MMOG) using real world data and maps. The goal is simple. 2013-01-25: Royalties for stations has been decreased to 1%. Its now cheaper to dispatch trains through stations you do not own.
2013-01-23: A station has now some more parameters like passengers (freight) available and capacity. When you dispatch a train on a rail set, the amount of passengers and freight available in the initial station will decrease by the amount your train would deliver. If there is not enough passengers or freight available in the station, the revenue will decrease accordingly. Passengers and freight available in a station will increase automatically on hourly base up to the station capacity.
2013-01-16: Fullscreen mode is now interactive - means you can use keyboard in fullscreen (text inputs, shortcuts etc.). Dispatcher window is resizeable.
2013-01-09: New train rules now only let you edit and sell train in its origin station, and dispatch train from its current station (more in FAQ). Esri aerial maps with much more details are now used instead of MapQuest ones.
2013-01-07: More console commands available including navigation sharing and persistent saved navigations.
2013-01-04: Score algorithm has been slightly updated in order to balance cash and other stuff better (see FAQ). Multiple new commands available in chat.

2012-12-20: User levels has been implemented. All existing user accounts were upgraded to level 4 (maximum), newly created users will start from level 1. Read FAQ for more info.

2012-12-07: Important announcement: Thanks to all your feedback on community page, I have decided to update the game system a bit. The game will be split into seasons. A season will last 1-3 months and right after one ends, the winners will be announced, latest osm data imported (covering all your contributions) and a new season will start. As we deal with limited resources (world not big enough) and in order to prevent data inconsistencies, almost all the player's data will be reseted and you will start the next season having the same options as every other player. In each season a lot of new stuff will be introduced. Oh, almost forgot to mention, the current seasons ends with this year. So hurry up and score some more points!

2012-11-26: Hurray! You may have noticed the game was moved to TrainLord.com domain. I did my best to do the transition as smooth as possible, there was just a 3 hour issue with google login, and is solved already. A redirect will remain from previous domain.

2012-11-09: Rail set max speed equals the lowest value of all rail-speeds it consists of. The speed of train, being dispatched on a rail set, equals the lower of train max speed vs. rail set max speed.
2012-11-08: Each rail now has a max speed property that can be upgraded. Upgrading the max speed property will increase the price of rail. You can upgrade any rail not just those owned.
2012-11-07: A daily 10% property tax has been imposed on all owned property (excluding cash). Tax is applied every day at 04:00 AM CET.
2012-11-05: Train speed now deviates around 90-100% when train is dispatched on a rail set.
2012-11-05: Limits for owned rails, stations, rail sets and rails in rail set has been implemented. If you previously owned more of these, some were sold (cheap ones) in order to fit the limit and your cash has been updated accordingly.

How do I make profit in the game?
Directly by dispatching trains. Also, if some other user dispatches a train over a rail you own or a station you own.
Why are some trains not available to buy and what is user level?
You start at level 1. Dispatch passenger or cargo trains to reach the next level. To see how many passengers / freight is left to deliver before the level upgrade, hover the level progress symbol (over the map, next to your username). Once you reach higher levels more trains and wagons will be available for you. Maximum level is 6.
How to create a rail set?
Select any rail within a station area. Notice, this rail will get rendered on map with two buttons, each located at the end of the rail. By clicking one of these, you will start building a rail set in that direction. Rails available for connection will appear. Once your rail set reached end station area, you can save it.
How to remove a rail from a rail set?
If you are in rail set edit mode, just expand 'Rails In Set' block and notice 'Remove Last' button.
How is rail price calculated?
By default, the rail price is calculated from its length. By increasing the max speed of a rail (default is 80kmph) you increase the rail price as well.
How is station price calculated?
Station price is calculated from number of rails that are connected to the station.
How is dispatch profit calculated?
Its a dispatch cost minus dispatch revenue. Dispatch cost is a sum of what you pay for each rail and station you do not own within your rail set and a part of train set price. Dispatch revenue is calculated by train set technical data, a rail set length and its condition and available passengers (freight) in initial station.
How is dispatch speed calculated?
Rail set max speed equals the lowest of rail-speeds it consists of. The speed of train, being dispatched on a rail set, equals the lower of train max speed vs. rail set max speed.
What is rail set condition and how to improve it?
By dispatching some trains over the rail set, its condition may decrease. Rail set condition directly affects dispatch revenue. In order to improve condition, dispatch service train set. After service train set dispatch is finished, rail set condition is improved.
Why do my trains crash when dispatched on a same rail set and having equal top speed?
A speed deviation has been implemented. Your trains will achieve 90-100% of top speed when dispatched.
Would my trains reach destination and finalize dispatch if I leave the game?
Basically no, your dispatches would get lost in time and space. But if you 1. return to the game soon enough before the train is expected to reach the destination, and you 2. catch the train by locating the rail set on the map, you may have some luck and catch your dispatches back in a few seconds, dispatches will appear in dispatches section again.
What is train current station and origin station?
When you buy a new train, current and origin stations are undefined. New train can be first dispatched anywhere and both these stations are set with the first dispatch. From now on, you can only edit or sell the train in its origin station (never changes). Current station changes every time a train successfully reaches its destination. You can dispatch a train only on a rail set that starts with the same station where a train currently appears. Consider reversed dispatches.
What does passengers (freight) available and capacity station parameters do?
When you dispatch a train on a rail set, the amount of passengers and freight available in the initial station will decrease by the amount your train would deliver. If there is not enough passengers or freight available in the station, the revenue will decrease accordingly. Passengers and freight available in a station will increase automatically on hourly base up to the station capacity.
What is login code?
Login code can be used to log in into the game. You can generate a login code for any account, you are already using, by going to the user section and clicking generate. You can use the same code to log in into the game on web or mobile.
What is user score?
Its a sum of user cash, assets he owns (rails, rail sets, stations, trains), passengers transferred * 100 and freight delivered * 100 minus tax debt the whole / 1000.
How often is score updated?
Once per hour.
What is a tax debt?
A 3% daily tax is applied on all non active (in last 24 hours) player's owned property and cash. Until you clear your tax debt you are not allowed to buy any property or dispatching trains.
What is a game season?
The game is split into seasons. A season lasts 1-3 months and right after one ends, winners are announced, OSM data updated (covering all your contributions) and a new season starts within minutes. As Train Lord deals with limited resources (world not big enough) and in order to prevent data inconsistencies, almost all the player's data will be reset and you will start the next season having the same options as every other player. In each season a lot of new stuff will be introduced.
What are current game limits?
1000 owned rails, 250 owned stations, 20 rail sets, 1000 rails in a rail set.
A train has crashed into itself?
This is probably related to corrupted OSM data. The rail goes from point A to B, C, B, D, while it should be A, B, C, D. You can contribute into OSM and fix the issue by yourself. Your contribution will be available in the game in next season.
The railway / station / geo information that exists in a real world, is not available in the game or is different.
All the map data available in the game is from OpenStreetMap project. If there are any inaccuracies, please contribute to OSM project yourself. You may find your contribution available in the game later in future. There are some great free tools for contribution like JOSM or MapMote
Why is a rail / station rendered inconsistently with map image?
While map tiles (images) are updated daily, the game geo database is not. It may happen that a change has been submitted into OSM database, but it will take much longer time to appear in the game.
How often is a game geo database updated?
Updating the database may cause inconsistencies with rail sets etc. Geographical updates and related changes will be announced in advance.
The game does not collect any additional personal information other than your name or nickname that is provided by the login service you decide to use (Facebook, Google, Twitter). This information is used for user identification within the game like scoreboard, rail or station ownership etc.
Terms of Service
By using the game, you are agreeing to these terms:
- Don't misuse the game. Play the game using provided user interface, don't try to create your own one or call the remote services directly.
- In case of misusing the game, your account can by deleted.
- Inactive accounts will be deleted after 60 days of inactivity. Any game activity, or just logging in to the game would reset inactivity counter.
- In order to optimize gameplay or importing latest map data, the game data or user data can be reset or updated any time without prior warning.
